We all enjoyed taking part in the Crossmichael Sports today. Our 3 teams did REALLY well - but our rounders team did EXCEPTIONALLY well, because WE WON!!!
The winning House this year was Kenbank - you can see Jamie receiving the cup. Boys Champion was Jack and Girls Champion was Kirstin. Well done everybody.
Our P7s joined with all the other P7s in the Stewartry to work with Scottish Opera on a fun, new musical called “First Class - Passport to Paris”. It is all about a school trip which finds out they are double booked on the plane. We think you can see by the costumes that our P7s were the Scottish school party - the other school that’s booked on the plane is ….a French group. Kirstin said she enjoyed the music BUT she didn’t like the costume AT ALL!!!!
We had a great morning playing with the biggest jigsaw ever!
Mapland is a giant walkover jigsaw map of Scotland, it measures 10.8m by 7.6m - plus Shetland! Mapland came to Dalry and we had to build the giant jigsaw of Scotland before we got started…then we learned about the Scottish cities before using pieces of string to measure distances. We worked on our compass points, as well as learning more about ordnance survey symbols. It was excellent fun, and we learned loads too.
We played some great games with Calum Murray (RSPB) today and learned loads about birds of prey (Calum’s favourite is the Red Kite). We spent most of the morning being preditors but finding it hard to find the food we needed to stay alive. THEN someone poisoned our carrion and loads of us died. We had great fun, but learned loads. We even managed to get an outlet for our BIRD cards…Calum is going to try and sell them for us at Mersehead. Thanks Calum. ![]()
We have been practising rowing as fast as we can over 400metres. Currently Elizabeth is the fastest by 1 hundredth of a second from Fraser!! Now that’s close ![]()
We have been practising our tables in between rowing. Mr Bannister, the secondary maths teacher has made a really good programme for us to try and beat 96% in 3 minutes on tables up to 12. Jack holds the record at 25 seconds!! Sarah and Amelia are looking really pleased with themselves because they not only beat their own targets….they got 100% correct. Well done everybody.
